Klipbokkop Mountain Resort
Owners Gerhard and Elmarie Groenewald obtained the mountain farm in 1994, after which the resort was opened to the public in 1998. At Klipbokkop we strive to instil not only a greater appreciation for and awareness of the environment, the vegetation (fynbos), the plants and the animals, but also the responsibility of using vehicles in a sensitive eco-system. Klipbokkop was developed and is managed with a commitment to promote responsible and environmentally friendly tourism, and strives to attract and influence like-minded visitors.
Flora & Fauna
There is a richness of indigenous flora and fauna with a large variety of plants that are unique to the Western Cape. Some of the rarest aloes, the fan aloe or Aloe Plicatillis are found only on these mountain ranges. The Klipspringers, a small antelope, are abundant and will entertain you with their agile rock hopping. The black eagle and fish eagle, a variety of different raptors and bird life, the rare sighting of the elusive leopard, as well as the bat-eared fox and honey badger has been recorded.
Goodyear 4×4 Academy
The Goodyear 4×4 Academy operates from Klipbokkop Mountain Resort and specialise in 4×4 training on a wide variety of terrains. The unique diversity of terrains includes sand dunes, rocks, mud and a natural skidpan. The standard of our tracks make Klipbokkop exceptional and the tracks are constantly maintained throughout the year.
Climate
Worcester is known for clear, sunny and hot summer days, but during the winter the days are usually just as bright and sunny, though not as hot. The night temperatures can be very cold during winter and because of the high altitude, snow occurs regularly on the high mountain peaks, ensuring even more spectacular views. Most of the rainfall is in winter and spring and therefore the greater displays of wild flowers occur from August to December on the higher levels of the mountain.
